Westjet Flight Takes Off After Bomb Threat

November 21st, 2015  |  Travel

A Calgary bound flight was delayed at Halifax Stanfield Airport after a bomb threat was received this morning.

The plane had already been boarded and was waiting to depart at 7:30 am when the word came that the flight had to be evacuated and searched.

"The threat was received at 6:41 a.m. When the threat was received people had boarded the plane," said Const. Mark Skinner, Nova Scotia RCMP. "So it was simply a matter of just getting up and leaving the plane, it was still attached to the sky bridge."

Police searched through the plane and luggage and found no evidence of explosives on board.

All 69 passengers and crew were allowed to re-board the plane and it departed Halifax Airport at 10:27, after a three-hour delay.

Police have not commented on the details surrounding the origin of the threat.
