Buzz Aldrin Goes to Moon, Customs Still Wants their Declaration Form

August 3rd, 2015  |  News

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin shows that US Customs and Immigration makes exceptions for no man – even if they’ve been to the moon. In a recent tweet, Aldrin shared a customs declaration form from 1968 that he filed after returning from his first lunar landing with Neil Armstrong.

"My mission director @Buzzs_xtina's favorite piece of my memorabilia. My travel voucher to the moon. #Apollo11" he tweeted.

Aldrin listed “moon rock and moon dust samples” under Cargo and sated that it was “to be determined” if there had been any condition on board that may lead to the spread of diseases. Aldrin added wryly in his tweet that “moon disease TBD”.

Aldrin also tweeted his expense form for his trip from Houston TX to the moon and back, itemizing his modes of transportation: automobile, airplane, and “government spacecraft”. The expense form totaled at $33.21 for mileage and meals.

July 20 was the 46th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Aldrin reminisced with his followers by posting photographs and memories from the journey on his Twitter and Facebook accounts.
