Everyone hates paying for parking, especially when parking rates boarder on ridiculous. While many attempt to buck the system by risking parking without paying and using other tactics, there are ways that you can save money on parking. Sometimes you just have to be willing to give up a rock star parking spot to save a few bucks.

Check out these tips to save money on parking fees:

  1. Car pool: If you are planning on going somewhere with friends or family, consider carpooling and splitting the costs of parking.
  2. Look for economy lots: These lots are often located further away from your destination, but as a result, come with a cheaper parking fee, especially when it comes to airport parking.
  3. Weigh the cost of public transportation: When you factor in the cost of gas and parking, it is often cheaper to take public transportation.
  4. Park at a friend’s house: If you are going somewhere that is located close to a friend’s house, give them a call and ask if you can park their house.
  5. Do your homework: Parking downtown in any city can be expensive. This is why it is important for you to do your homework to find lots that have lower fees. Even if you have to walk an extra 5 minutes, your saving will add up over time. Plus, the exercise is good for you!
