Tips on how to winterize your car | HUB Insurance Hunter Blog

September 26th, 2011  |  Insurance

The weather can wreak havoc on your vehicle if you do not properly prepare it for the winter driving season. Frigid temperatures, ice, snow, and winter storms are all things that your car needs to be prepared for before it happens. This is why a visit to the mechanic before the cold weather hits is essential, even if your vehicle is relatively new.

Getting your car winterized will not only prepare it for winter driving, it will also bring to light any potential issues that need to be dealt with before they become an issue when you least expect it.

To prepare your vehicle it is important that you have the following things checked:

  • Battery
  • Antifreeze
  • Oil
  • Wiper fluid and wipers
  • Air and fuel filters
  • Heater and defroster
  • Brakes and exhaust

When these things are up to date, your car will be ready to take on the winter weather. This will also give you, the driver, more confidence and peace of mind in knowing your vehicle will hold up, even in the worst conditions. Also, make sure that you have a winter emergency kit in your trunk as a precaution. You never know when it will come in handy.
