8 Driving Safety Resolutions for the New Year

December 12th, 2012  |  Auto Insurance

New Years is just around the corner. It’s time for a fresh start and a great time to make some changes in our lives. This is why so many people create New Year’s resolutions to get back on track, learn something new or change their life in some way.

Since driving safety is our forte at HUB Insurance Hunter, we thought we would put together some driving safety resolutions for the New Year that everyone should consider adding to their personal list of resolutions. Even if we each choose one of the resolutions listed below, we could vastly improve the safety of our roads.

Here are 8 driving resolutions to consider for 2013:

  1. Stop texting once and for all: That’s right; it is time to finally put your phone down once and for all when you are behind the wheel.
  2. Reduce the distractions around you: Many of the distractions are often create by the driver themselves. Think about your driving practices and what you can do to actually eliminate distractions when you drive.
  3. Slow down: Finally take your foot off the gas a little and reduce your speed, especially when the weather is poor.
  4. Don’t drink and drive: Also, refrain from driving when under the influence of narcotics and any other form of medication that can impact your ability to drive safely.
  5. Buckle up: If you tend to not wear your seat belt, now is a great time to break that bad habit.
  6. Stop road raging: If you get stressed out when behind the wheel, it is time to take a deep breath and relax. Reducing road rage will reduce your risk of making a mistake on the road.
  7. Stop driving when tired: Drowsy driving is dangerous. Make sure you get enough sleep before going on long drives.
  8. Stop neglecting your vehicle: Not taking your car in for regular maintenance can be dangerous to you and other drivers on the road. Take your car in for regular check-ups to ensure it is working efficiently.
