6 Pros of Road Trip Vacations

August 5th, 2014  |  Travel Insurance

No matter where you live, there is always a road trip vacation opportunity. Take Ontario for example. There are hundreds of road trip vacation ideas that can be turned into an awesome summer vacation. You could take a trip up north, head to the east coast, travel across the prairies to the west coast, take a trip south and travel to any of the regions in the US that you want to visit. The road trip possibilities are almost endless, and this is why so many people choose to take a road trip for their summer vacation. Just make sure that your car is road trip ready before you leave!

Why are people choosing to hit the road? Here are some of the pros of road trip vacations:

  1. No fixed agenda: Many people love road trips because they can just get in the car and drive. You don’t need to plan everything in detail and many people simply map out a route and see where it takes them.
  2. You are in charge: If you are behind the wheel, you are in charge. If you see a place that looks interesting, you can pull over and check it out. Or you can choose to keep driving until you reach your destination for the day.
  3. You set the pace: Road trips provide you with a lot of flexibility and you can set your own pace. You can blaze through as many places as possible or you can take your time. You set the pace and do things according to the timeline you have set out for yourself.
  4. More of a real world experience: Road trips give you more of a real world experience compared to other vacation options. You tend to drive through small town and get to see unique places and meet people that you would otherwise not have the chance to meet. Things like eating a small town diner or picking up some produce from a local farmer add uniqueness to road trips that cannot be duplicated with other forms of travel.
  5. Cost effectiveness: Road trips can be very cost effective, especially if you are splitting the costs with the others, making this type of vacation one that is doable for most people.
  6. Lots of food options: One of the best things about road trips is that you have lots of food options. You can stop at some of your personal favorites and grab a burger, or try out the local places you find on your journey.

There is nothing like getting out on the open road and travelling somewhere new. On any given day you can drive as much or as little as you want. Plus, if you stop somewhere and find you don’t like it, you can hit the road and continue your road trip.

Are you fond of road trip vacations? Why, why not? Where are some of the places you have travelled on road trips?
