11 Activities to Help Prevent your Kids from Saying “I’m Bored” this Summer

Keeping the kids busy during the summer is a topic that most parents are thinking about right now. Even though kids can’t wait to finish the school year, it won’t be long before they start stay those famous words – “I’m Bored.” 

If you want to eliminate this from happening, there are many activities that parents can sign their children up for over the summer months to not only keep them occupied, but also help them learn, grow, and become a more productive. 

11 Activities to Help Prevent your Kids from Saying “I’m Bored” this Summer

The following are a number of great things that your student can do over the summer to keep busy:

   1.   Summer Camp

One of the most traditional options, there are summer camps of all types held across the province. They are held at schools, community centers, and recreation areas. Many are day camps, while others are overnight. 

 

   2.  Sports Camp 

Have a child that loves sports? Consider signing them of for a sports camp so they can learn to better their skills at their favorite sport. It’s also a great way to stay fit and keep active. 

 

  3.  Summer School 

Summer school is the perfect way for your kids to stay sharp and even get ahead. With online educational tools, there is no shortage of places where you could sign your kids up for a course or two to keep them busy. 

 

  4.  A Summer Project 

Are you planning a summer project? A renovation perhaps? Are you making changes to the back yard? Want to finally clean out the garage or basement? Why not get your kids in on the action and get them to help you with the project. It will keep them occupied, they will learn a thing or two, and you will keep them busy. 

 

  5.  Driver Training

Have a teen that just turned 16? Why not enroll them in driver training over the summer so they can learn how to become a safe and effective driver. 

 

  6.  Summer vacation 

Naturally, summer vacation is a great way to keep the kids occupied. The only thing to figure out is where you are going to take the family this year. 

 

  7.  Chores 

Assigning chores around the house is a great way to keep your kids busy for part of the day. It also teaches them responsibility. 

 

  8.  Summer Job

If they are old enough, getting a summer job will not only keep your teens occupied, it will also give them some spending money and help them gain some work experience. 

 

  9.  Volunteering 

Volunteering is also a great way to keep busy and gain experience. The options for volunteering are almost endless and there is no shortage of organizations that would be happy to welcome your teen as a volunteer. 

 

  10.  Gym Membership

  11.  Trip to grandmas 

When all else fails, you can always ship the kids off to grandma’s house. She would be more than happy to see the kids and, what kid doesn’t love to visit grandma, right?
